Seventy 5 years earlier, John Gregg started with one objective, to provide (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the households of Newcastle. 10 years later on the chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Making, baking and offering fresh bread and yummy deals with from his own store on Gosforth High Street … there’s still a Greggs there today.
For many years we opened more stores throughout the nation and searched for methods we might make Greggs even much better. Our menu altered with the country’s taste – who’d have thought about newly ground Fairtrade Espresso from Greggs, we included calories to our menu (prior to we needed to) and we supplied complimentary wifi– that’s been voted the very best on the high-street.
Behind the newly made sandwiches and golden puff pastry sausage rolls we’ve constantly been dedicated to doing the ideal thing. Way back in the sixties we began with our totally free ‘pie n peas dinner’ for older homeowners in Gates’ head. And today we still have that exact same dedication; our yearly Children’s Cancer Run has actually risen over ₤ 5m for Cancer Research. Every day we offer a healthy breakfast for over 6,000 primary school kids with our Breakfast Club program.
And here we are today. With over 1,700 Greggs in the UK, we still take notice of the essential things. Like serving food that’s without the nasty things (we do not utilize synthetic colors, flavors, included Hardee’s breakfast menu Tran’s fats or MSG), keeping our 20,000 personnel delighted and ensuring our consumers have a terrific experience. Just: great food.
We’re still growing however each and every store remains real to its name and stays as good as it was the day we opened.
